What sectors do you focus on?

While we have experience and capabilities in many sectors, we are particularly focused on the following sectors currently:

What types of companies do you work with and what is your typical transaction size?

We primarily work with private companies and small-cap public companies (less than $500 million market cap). Our typical transaction size is $5-50 million but we have the flexibility to work on transactions that fall outside of that range. We are focused on the long-term capital appreciation potential of our clients so we are more focused on the quality of the company and the market opportunity than the size of the deal.

Do you work for clients outside of Silicon Valley?

Yes, absolutely. While we are based in San Francisco, California, we do not limit ourselves to only working with clients based in Silicon Valley. Entrepreneurship is global and we are excited to work with clients from around the world, particularly those from fast-growing regions where technology is enabling rapid change in the economy.

What types of investors can you help us gain access to?

We leverage our extensive investor relationships and deep knowledge of the private capital markets to target the optimal investor universe for each of our clients. We have broad and deep relationships with the key investor groups around the globe, having closed transactions with venture capital funds, hedge funds, financial sponsors, strategic investors and sovereign wealth funds. From a process point of view, we first focus on getting a detailed understanding of your business and its strengths and opportunities, then we work with you to identify the right target investors to focus on.

How do you structure your client engagements?

We offer our clients varying levels of assistance ranging from advisory board membership to consulting services to investment banking representation. We realize that it is important for our clients to conserve their cash and are happy to take a significant portion of our compensation in the form of equity. Our view is that our success in the long run will be driven by the quality of the clients we work with so our primary focus is finding the most promising companies in our target sectors and working with them in a spirit of partnership.
